Frigoglass has chosen Optim Project Management as General Designer and Project Manager for the reconstruction of their factory in Romania

Frigoglass, a leading commercial refrigeration and glass packaging solutions manufacturer, has appointed Optim Project Management to design and manage the complete reconstruction of its fire-damaged plant in Timisoara.

The project involves the designing and construction of a new commercial refrigeration facility, in-line with the industry’s norms and standards, with a modern design and to adapt the modernized production lines. The building’s functional characteristics are based on the Client’s technological requirements regarding the production processes flows and aim at achieving an optimized flexibility of the spaces and facilities.

The entire project, including the new production hall, and the adjacent buildings which need to be refurbished, have a total GBA 28,000 sqm.  The production hall will be rebuilt in place of the former one and will have a GBA of approx. 18,100 sqm. The new development will also accommodate a modern office area for administration personnel, canteen and locker rooms for staff, warehouse areas, and three new loading docks.

Optim Project Management’s full scope of works include the following services: General Design (including Concept), Permitting, Tendering, Project Management (managing a number of specialist contractors), Cost Management, Health & Safety Coordination and Site Inspection.

From the concept phase, Optim Project Management provided an optimal built-up area without loss of service delivery capacity, investigated different ways and opportunities to best use the existing space, and provided a design with adequate flexibility to offer opportunities for components and elements to be adapted to different site conditions. The challenge was to ensure that the proposed solutions are technically and economically feasible, the main objective being the reconstruction of the factory, as well as the refurbishment of the adjacent buildings.

During the design phase, Optim Project Management provided their usual services at the best quality: Concept Design, full General Design (architecture, structure and MEP designs), conducted specialised studies as required for the Authorisation of Construction, Permitting and Budgeting/Investment Cost Plan. In order to support the Client, the Cost & Commercial department prepared at concept phase a budget exercise for the overall project development, based on real offers and experienced prices at actual market level, thus enabling the Client to obtain the most accurate overview on the financial implications and be able to make the best decisions.

Frigoglass production facility is planned to be functional in the first quarter of 2023.
