The Diversity Charter already has ten signatory organizations in Romania: the UK embassy in Bucharest, the British-Romanian Chamber of Commerce, British Council, Carrefour Romania, IKEA Romania, Samsung Electronics Romania, JW Marriott Grand Hotel, CSR Agency, KRUK Romania and the Bucharest Regional Statistics Department.
H.E. UK ambassador Paul Brummell, next to Charlie Crocker, CEO British Romanian Chamber of Commerce, and Nigel Bellingham, British Council director in Romania, have signed the Charter within a ceremony held at the HQs of the UK embassy on January 12.
The three British entities have thus announced support to promote the culture of diversity in Romania.
“I was delighted to sign the Diversity Charter on behalf of the British Embassy, reflecting both the Embassy’s commitment to promote diversity and inclusion across its staff, and the fact that the promotion of human rights, including equality issues, lies at the heart of British foreign policy,” ambassador Brummell stated.
The ceremony was also attended by the famous Romanian rower Ivan Patzaichin, multiple world and Olympic champion and one of the ambassadors of the Charter in Romania.
The organizations that would like to join this initiative are invited to sign the text of the Charter and to contact the project team. The Charter will be officially launched in Romania within a ceremony due at JW Marriott on April 18, 2018.
The document, which is promoting diversity, non-discrimination and equal rights at work worldwide, aims at motivating the signatories in Romania to admit and expand the advantages of integrating diversity in the human resources practices. It also represents an excellent debate platform around the diversity management.
The charter can be assumed by companies, NGOs, public institutions, SMEs, employers’ associations, business associations, academic institutions, etc.
