Insurance and recruitment specialists say that the Millennial generation believes that it is necessary for the labor offer to include an extra-salary package that contains important benefits, such as: work schedule flexibility, the possibility of working from home, fitness gym memberships, free trainings and, especially, private health insurance.

The change in perspective is important, since the X generation is willing to work overtime, to accept labor conditions beneath their expectations, and to not have additional demands from their employers. By comparison, generation Y is constantly informed about the technological evolution, keeps track of national and international social changes, has high expectations from themselves and from others, as well as a high level of mobility. Also, due to the globalization process that the Millennials were exposed to, they follow a professional trajectory that is very oriented toward internationalization.

Due to the current social and professional context, we observe an increase in the demand for extra-salary benefit packages that include private health insurance with international coverage. Moreover, the mobility degree of employees has grown considerably, which has led to the companies’ need to access customized private medical insurance plans, which include broader benefits than a medical subscription, such as: maternity insurance, dental treatment in case of accident, emergency medical transfer, evacuation and repatriation. Also, these plans are deductible up to 400 euro / year, both for the employer, and for the employee, which represents an important fiscal facility, says Laura Afrasine, General Manager of MediHelp International.

Millennials are a generation of educated, creative, confident young people, with ambitious objectives that they follow closely. Therefore, employers must adapt to the demands and the new profile of the employee, especially in order to be competitive on the labor market, to motivate him to achieve a high performance and to increase his degree of loyalty toward the company.
