The second panel, moderated by Adela Jansen, Board and Advisory Board Member, focused on “Advancing the Digital Healthcare Ecosystem.” Opening with a keynote address by Viorel Mihăilescu from AstraZeneca Romania, the session explored how innovations such as artificial intelligence, telehealth, and blockchain are reshaping patient care. The panel included Diana Mereu (CEO of RASCI & Founder of HealthFluencer), Shajjad Haider Rizvi MBE (CEO, Resysten International), Bogdan Urdea (Kogaion), Vladimir Florea (OLSTRAL), Diana Andritchi (Synaptiq), and Andreea Purcaru (Rayscape), who engaged in a comprehensive dialogue about infrastructure challenges, the regulatory landscape, and cybersecurity considerations essential to digital health adoption.

A key theme throughout was the need to foster strong partnerships between startups, corporations, regulators, and patient groups to accelerate the integration of technology into everyday healthcare. The panel also tackled the ongoing challenge of slow adoption in clinical settings and emphasized the importance of shifting mindsets to fully embrace innovation.

Sharing a call to action from the event Gold Partner, AstraZeneca: “Interoperability is crucial-align on architecture and standards so every new system is a compatible building block. Institutionalize collaboration—public–private, multi-stakeholder—to test, certify, and scale solutions that deliver measurable outcomes. Commit to the unified electronic health record as the backbone, with registries as the evidence engine for prevention, outcomes, and value-based care. Empower patients and clinicians with digital skills, decision support, and continuous monitoring. Invest in cybersecurity and governance as enablers of trust and scale. The payoff is clear: better access, faster diagnosis, coordinated care, safer data, lower admin burden, and more effective prevention for improved longevity. System-wide, high-quality data enables evidence-based policy and smarter resource allocation.” said Viorel Mihăilescu – Innovation & Business Excellence (IBEX) Director for Romania & Senior Director, Digital Excellence and Analytics at AstraZeneca.

Digital transformation in healthcare means more than just technology — it requires trust, new skills, and genuine partnerships between innovators, professionals, and authorities. The future of healthcare depends on how effectively we can connect innovation with the regulatory framework and the real needs of people.” said Adela Jansen, Board Member.

Digital health is reshaping care by connecting people, data, and technology in smarter ways. The real breakthrough, though, comes from partnerships that align innovation with patient needs — that’s where lasting impact is made.” stated Diana Mereu – CEO of RASCI & Founder of HealthFluencer.

“The biggest accelerator in the MedTech industry is having people from different domains interact and create bridges of knowledge—engineers, medical personnel, programmers, regulators, and business partners working together. At OLSTRAL, we are proving that innovation moves fastest when these groups collaborate from day one.” stated Vladimir Florea – Biomedical Engineer at OLSTRAL.

The 2025 Healthcare Forward conference reaffirmed the BRCC’s commitment to fostering dialogue, knowledge exchange, and cross-sector collaboration in Romania’s healthcare ecosystem. The event provided a valuable platform for stakeholders to share best practices and collectively shape the future of healthcare.
