We dare you to participate in a workshop that addresses the needs of the actors involved in the betterment of our society, to plan and act strategically in an environment that is rapidly changing and evolving, with growing challenges and complex needs. The workshop brings together Prof. Yasmin Merali (University of Hull) and Dave Snowden (Cognitive Edge), two of the world’s most influential digital thinkers.

The workshop is dedicated to change makers, people interested in driving positive transformations in society and contributing to development of knowledge, professionals of the NGOs sector, policy makers, academics, students and anyone eager to learn. Access to the event is free but the workshop has limited places, therefore we kindly ask you to register below.

Yasmin Merali is Professor of Systems Thinking and Director of the Centre for Systems Studies at the University of Hull. Her research is trans-disciplinary, using complexity theory to address issues of transformation in internet enabled socio-economic contexts, focusing on network dynamics and the emergence and co-evolution of socio-economic structures. She has extensive consultancy experience in public, private, and third sector organizations. Her work is supported by UK and European funding councils and she received a BT Fellowship and an IBM Faculty Award for her work on knowledge management and complexity, and she is the Scientific Lead for the socio-economic and policy applications in the UNESCO UNiTwin Complex Systems Digital Campus.

Dave Snowden is founder and chief scientific officer of Cognitive Edge. He is a renown public intellectual, academic, and expert who works at an international level and covers government and industry, looking at complex issues relating to strategy, organisational change and decision making. He has pioneered a science-based approach to organisations drawing on anthropology, neuroscience and complex adaptive systems theory. He is a popular and passionate keynote speaker on a range of subjects and is well known for his pragmatic cynicism and iconoclastic style. Dave is currently working on the application of natural sciences to social systems through the development of a range of methods and the SenseMaker® software suite.

The event will be moderated by Andrew Taylor, experienced business consultant and lecturer at the University of Hull Business School, with a proven track record in designing and implementing successful strategies.
