Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral

Bank Holiday guidance

As you will be aware, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral, takes place on Monday 19 September. This is is a national Bank Holiday and the BCC office will be closed.

This Bank Holiday will operate in the same way as other Bank Holidays, and there is no statutory entitlement to time off. Employers may include Bank Holidays as part of a worker’s leave entitlement. The Bank Holiday will take place across the United Kingdom. Click here for further information about pay and time off on Bank Holidays.

State Funeral EIIR toolkit

The UK Cabinet Office has created a toolkit for partners and businesses to use during this time of mourning. They are asking businesses to display the EIIR cypher on their websites or in shop windows, wherever possible, between now and, more specifically, on the day of the state funeral. See further guidance for businesses on the period of national mourning here. Please share all of these materials with your members as relevant.

BCC National Assembly and AGM 2022

The BCC’s AGM and National Assembly 2022 will take place on Wednesday 12 October as virtual meetings.

Registration: A reminder that all attendees are requested to register in advance for the National Assembly and AGM using the Zoom meeting links above.

Voting at the AGM (UK Chambers): Proxy voting will be used to determine the definitive votes on each of the Resolutions to be proposed at the AGM. Each Member should complete and return a signed proxy form by no later than noon on the day of the AGM. This gives each Member (but not our Non-UK Members) the right to cast the number of votes which is equivalent to its own number of members – as set out in the “Certificate of Registered Numbers” which was sent out to each UK Chamber earlier in the year.

QES Q3 Deadline – Friday 16 September

A reminder that the Quarterly Economic Survey (QES) Q3 closes this Friday 16 September. Please forward your completed data to Stuart Morrison and ensure that you refer to the below QES checklist:

  • Have you sent the survey link directly to your members?
  • Have you sent out reminder emails to those who have yet to complete it?
  • Have you compiled your raw data in the correct template? [available here]
  • Have you sent your data to your regional coordinator or the BCC before the deadline?
  • Most importantly: Have you alerted your regional coordinator or the BCC if there are any issues?
