Returning to college this week means for Roweb the perfect opportunity to:
- Encouraging colleagues who are preparing for a new academic year;
The company’s software development team includes students who work for the company but can still attend classes.
- Supporting their teachers who return to classes and continue to influence careers;
Roweb has in its team teachers who are involved in top projects from the portfolio and who demonstrate that the theoretical part of the courses can be perfectly combined with the practical activity of the projects.
- Strengthening its partnerships with the technical faculties in Pitesti and Craiova to support educational initiatives.
This year, the company inaugurated the modernization of an IT laboratory at the University of Pitesti. The Roweb teams also actively participate in events such as STEAM Education Day and Jobs4IT to further promote education and opportunities in the IT industry.
- Taking an essential step towards getting to know the future generations of programmers who will choose to participate in the career programs (internship and internship) that Roweb is preparing for 2024.
Roweb’s story began at the chair…
The connection between Roweb and the educational environment is not accidental.
The company began its story during computer science classes, where a passionate teacher, Viorel Costea (the current CEO), managed to inspire his students with a love for programming.
Later, three former students became partners in a business that was born at a time when the digital field did not know the scope of today.
“As a teacher, I’ve met students with great potential. It’s one of the privileges of teaching: to see not only what a student is, but also what he/she can become someday. Their enthusiasm and capabilities were definitely an inspiration for me. On the other hand, I’ve noticed a real potential for creating an IT company on the market. So, putting these two together, I’ve realized soon that it would be a real lost opportunity not to involve some of my (former) students in a bold project.”
Viorel Costea – Roweb CEO
Also, most of the Roweb team comprises graduates of local faculties, making the connection with the academic environment close. Last year, for example, some of the students from the tech faculties visited the Roweb headquarters in Craiova and Pitesti to meet the software developers and understand what it means to work in an IT company.
The Open Doors and Jobs4It events were part of the #ForTheLoveOfProgramming umbrella, an initiative based on the aspect that defined the brand from the beginning: the passion for programming.
