The 21st Burns Supper Meets Eminescu

Date:30/01/2026 7:00 pm
Location:JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel

Join Light into Europe on Friday, 30 January, from 19:00, at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel in Bucharest for the 21st Annual Burns Supper. This year’s gathering holds particular significance, as it marks the opening of Light into Europe’s 40th anniversary year, celebrating four decades of dedicated service across Eastern Europe and responding where communities and children need support most.

Light into Europe works to remove barriers, foster independence, and expand inclusion, ensuring that young people of different abilities can participate fully in society with dignity and purpose. This impact has been made possible through the generosity of partners and supporters who share the conviction that inclusion is a human right and that lasting change is driven by service, compassion, and collective action.

This year’s Burns Supper offers a unique opportunity to connect across nations and generations while celebrating two visionary poets born in January: Robert Burns, Scotland’s national bard, and Mihai Eminescu, Romania’s national poet. Burns speaks of equality, compassion and the worth of every human being. Eminescu reflects on love, nature, social injustice and the search for meaning. Together, their voices remind us that poetry, like inclusion, transcends borders and speaks to our shared humanity.

Attendance at the Burns Supper will directly support Light into Europe’s 2026 plans to advance inclusion and social justice, including:

  • More Guide dog partnerships restoring independence and mobility

  • Advancing Life skills and employment pathways for young people with different abilities

  • Amplyfing Youth leadership and advocacy through MUN4ALL and the Youth Inclusion Summit

  • Accessibility and inclusion initiatives across schools, universities, public services, including training and practical resources

By attending, you are not just witnessing change,  you are powering it!

The evening will honour traditional Burns Supper moments, enriched with Eminescu-inspired poetry, alongside live Scottish music. In the true spirit of Burns Night, guests are also warmly invited to join Scottish dance practice sessions on 18 and 25 January, from 16:00 to 18:00, at the JW Marriott Hotel. No prior experience is required, only curiosity and a willingness to participate.

Kindly confirm attendance by 28 January 2026. For further information, please contact Light into Europe at burns-supper@lightintoeurope.org
