Support for Ukraine

What we will resolve.

There are currently families, mothers, children and babies crossing the Romanian border trying to flee the war in their country. They have left everything behind and are in need of help. The children and babies need food and clothes. The families need places to stay and also transport to these destinations. By working with local authorities and nation help groups we will provide support for these people. They have had to abandon everything in the hope of finding help across the border, so let’s provide them with it.

Needs:

  • Transport from Ukrainian and Moldavian borders.
  • Clothes
  • Food
  • Tea
  • Tinned food
  • Nonperishable foods
  • Baby products
  • Hygiene products
  • Places to stay
  • Transport for goods to the border.

How?

We will use our minibus to take goods up to the border. These goods will either be brought by us or they will have been collected by the local authorities. We would also like to buy a second-hand minibus for 5000 euros so that we can make 2 trips at a time and preferably 2 times a week. We can then bring more people back and take more goods up to them. The second minibus can also be used by other people who want to make a difference in the Ukrainian refugee crisis.

Steps:

  1. Raise money for Transport costs and products
  2. Raise 5000 euros for second hand minibus.
  3. Coordinate with Romanian authorities and local support groups.
  4. Transport goods to Ukrainian border.
  5. Transport refugees back to destinations in Romania. (Preferably Sibiu)
  6. Evaluate the process and implement changes for maximum efficiency.

Our experiences.

We have over 20 years of providing humanitarian support for children and adults in Romania. The projects that are similar to the current need are as follows:

  • Albesti food distribution. We provided for 4 years weekly food parcels for 140-152 children in a Roma community. We would give them out during the months of Nov-March.
  • Transport for people living with HIv. We provide free transport to and from hospitals for people living with HIV. This is an ongoing project and it helps them to receive the correct treatment and medical checkups.
  • Aid runs to and from the UK. The founders of Love Light Romania started to travel to Romania in the mod nineties. They would bring humanitarian support to a project in southern Romania. They would organize exact what was needed. We also travel back to the UK at least once a year to bring aid to our projects. We coordinate it with our supporters to be sure we collect exactly what is needed.
  • We have been working with authorities on a local, county and national level for over 20 years and we know how they work. We have good contacts and a good reputation with them.

What we want to raise.

  • 5000 euros for a second-hand minibus
  • 1500 euros initially for goods and transport.
  • Ongoing funds for goods and transport. At least 4000 euros a month.
