The 6th edition of SkyRun, the charity towerrunning competition, organized by SkyTower Bucharest – Romania’s tallest building – ended with remarkable results both in terms of sports and humanitarian aid: €20,000 were raised for charity, a record time of 2 minutes and 59 seconds was achieved and a special endurance award was granted to an 81-year- old participant who climbed the 720 stairs seven times.

An integral part of the SKY’S THE LIMIT programme, SkyRun2025 challenged participants to conquer 36 floors, 720 stairs, and 126 metres of vertical ascent – a thrilling and unique race inside Romania’s tallest building.

For the first time since the launch of the SkyRun series, the race’s finish line was set at the highest accessible level of SkyTower—the 36th floor, home to NOR – Sky Casual Restaurant, this year’s main partner. In previous editions, the finish line had been located on the 31st, 34th, and 35th floors.

With the contribution of over 700 participants from a record number of 13 countries – the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Slovakia, Austria, Spain, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Poland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and Romania – SkyRun 2025 brought together runners of all ages, including an 81-year-old competitor who managed to climb the 720 stairs 7 times during the competition, thus climbing a total number of 5040 stairs during the SkyRun competition – an example of extreme determination and endurance.

Participation fees generated €14,500, to which SkyTower Bucharest added its own contribution, bringing the total donation to €20,000. The entire amount will be directed to the four beneficiary organizations: Climb Again, Mia’s Children, SOS Children’s Villages Romania and Autism Voice.

“We are delighted that SkyRun has become a tradition that brings together sport, community, and generosity. Every step climbed is a step towards a better future. We would like to thank all participants and partners who made this result possible,” said Leo Forstner, Managing Director, RPHI Romania, the company that owns and manages SkyTower.

Thanks to the partnership with the Towerrunning World Association and the Towerrunning Challenge – World Federation of Great Towers, SkyRun 2025 featured, for the first time, a dedicated Elite Athletes category, with 37 professional runners from 11 countries participating.

SkyRun 2025 was included in the international circuits Towerrunning Tour 2025 and World Federation of Great Towers, consolidating Romania’s position on the global map of vertical running competitions.
