We are pleased to invite you to Refocus on Agribusiness 2026, a landmark event dedicated to the future of Romanian agriculture, bringing together market leaders, industry experts, producers, and decision-makers for strategic dialogue and relevant insights.

In a year marked by both opportunities and uncertainty, Romanian agriculture stands at a defining moment. While weather conditions have been favorable so far, rising costs, global instability, and changing consumption patterns continue to put pressure on the sector.

Now more than ever, it is essential to focus on creating added value, strengthening local production, and investing in processing capacity. Collaboration and the exchange of expertise across the entire value chain will be central to the discussions.

Refocus on Agribusiness 2026 will bring together professionals from all segments of agriculture and the food industry, providing the opportunity to discuss current challenges, future solutions, and exchange valuable expertise among market leaders, producers, and decision-makers.

Agenda

  • 10:30: Registrations, Welcome Coffee & Refreshments
  • 11:00: Panel 1. Agriculture in 2026: Outlook, opportunities, and challenges

This panel is intended for government officials, agricultural and food associations, farmers, and producers. The discussions will focus on national and European agricultural policies and seek the best solutions for strengthening the value chain through investments in production and processing. From the need to strengthen agricultural cooperatives to identifying market niches (e.g., striped sunflowers or berries) where farmers can act as the primary link in the supply chain relationship with retailers. A positive example is the success of the chicken meat and chicken meat products production and processing industry, which meets domestic demand and also exports a significant portion.

  • 12:30: Networking Coffee Break
  • 12:45: Panel 2. Agricultural inputs, plant protection, and technology adoption

Support for innovation in the field of genomic seeds is necessary to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of Romanian agriculture. Efforts to combat illicit trafficking of counterfeit plant protection products must also be improved, including through the creation of a legislative framework to combat the sale of counterfeit seeds. High-quality inputs could be subsidized through the creation of government compensation schemes (vouchers, tax deductions, etc.). Solutions to combat drought in agricultural areas where there are no irrigation systems (88.8% of all agricultural land in the Northwest region), as well as to encourage sustainable agriculture. Last but not least, digital tools are also increasingly important in helping farmers use inputs more efficiently and manage risks. Technologies like farm management software, satellite monitoring, and connected equipment can improve planning, reduce waste, and make it easier to track the origin and quality of seeds and plant protection products.

  • 14:15: Snacks & Refreshments Networking Break
  • 14:30: Panel 3. Financing, support through government programs, and insurance.

The financial products farmers need to protect themselves against disasters. All these solutions are interconnected: supporting farmers and producers through government programs enables them to obtain more comprehensive insurance, which in turn allows them to secure financing from specialized institutions without collateral or mortgages. Consulting is also important in the financing/insurance sector, as it provides a quick way for a non-specialized farmer to access a loan and an insurance policy under the best possible terms.
