This year marks the fifth edition of the Purple Night Romania (PNR) campaign, an annual call to action developed by the Romanian Diversity Chamber of Commerce for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Held on December 3rd, the campaign invites companies, authorities, and organizations to illuminate buildings in purple, symbolizing support for Romania’s disabled community.
Why Purple Night Romania?
Each year, Purple Night Romania gains increased attention, demonstrating enhanced public and private sector support, and raising awareness of the significant challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. These challenges range from social and economic exclusion to limited employment opportunities and insufficient accessibility.
Last Year’s Highlights:
In 2023, we successfully illuminated 89 landmarks across Romania in purple, symbolizing solidarity and support for the integration of persons with disabilities into all aspects of societal and professional life.
This Year’s Goal: Our ambition for 2024 is to engage over 100 participants from across the country to expand our impact and visibility.
How You Can Participate:
1. Illuminate in Purple: Light up your building in purple to make a visible statement of support for disability inclusion. Each illuminated site brings us one step closer to true societal integration.
2. Alternative Participation Methods: If lighting is not feasible, you can still make a significant impact:o Encourage your staff to wear purple apparel such as shirts, scarves, or ribbons.o Place purple flags prominently at your location.o Display our official Purple Night Romania visuals on your digital screens.
