The Romanian software development company, Roweb, concluded a new session of the summer practice with students from the Technical Faculties of Craiova and Pitesti.

This year’s edition included only face-to-face meetings. The students came to the Roweb headquarters in Craiova and Pitesti to meet with mentors and work with modern technologies such as PHP, .Net and specific Quality Assurance tools – manual testing (only in Pitesti). 

According to company representatives, the return to the physical format of internships is a great opportunity for students because they have faster and more efficient access to learning resources and a learn-by-practice process. This happens thanks to the immediate proximity of the mentors, who can communicate with them at any time.

According to statistics from previous years, 85% of students selected for internships remain part-time or full-time Roweb employees. However, this year will be no exception. 

“We have noticed in recent years that even in cities like Pitesti, Craiova, there are valuable talents in the Tech field, but who have limited access to career programs. However, our internship initiatives have the role of bringing the opportunities closer to them. On the other hand, we also need equally talented people who are passionate about IT. Through these programs, we aim to select the best and engage them in top projects for large companies in Europe”, said Gabriel Roșu, Roweb partner.

 

According to Roweb representatives, about 1,500 students have participated in the internship programs in the ten years since they have been organised. The company receives between 200 and 300 applications annually, with a significantly increased participation in the last two years, due to the strengthening of partnerships with university and high school environments in Pitesti and Craiova.

 

Later, on average, around 50 people from both cities participate in the internship, and approximately 15 students remain in the paid internship. Of the latter, approx. Roweb employs 85% upon program completion, i.e. an average of 13 people/session.

 

Roweb has developed internship programs in Pitesti and Craiova since 2012. Most participants are students at the Faculty of Computer Automation and Electronics from Craiova, the Faculty of Mathematics – Computer Science from Pitesti and the Faculty of Electronics, Communications and Computers from Pitesti.

 

 

In addition to summer practice and internships, the career events organised by Roweb also mean:

  • open doors events;
  • career fairs;
  • presentations in technical faculties;
  • Job Shadow Day events.
