This event is designed to bring together investment funds, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and government representatives to explore opportunities and challenges in the Romanian investment landscape. This event aims to foster connections, inspire collaboration, and drive growth in the Romanian economy. Attendees will also gain insights into Romania’s strategic geographic position as a gateway to Eastern Europe, facilitating access to new markets and expanding business opportunities and also highlight the various incentives and support programs offered by the Romanian government to attract foreign investment.

Opening remarks: Bogdan Mihailescu – Minister Counsellor for Commercial and Economic Affairs at the Romanian Embassy in the United Kingdom

Mr. Bogdan Mihailescu is Minister Counsellor and Head of the Economic and Commercial Department within the Embassy of Romania to the United Kingdom, a position he has held since April 2020. In this role he deals with the development of trade relations between the 2 countries, the support of Romanian companies in expanding their business on the UK market as well as the channeling of British investments in Romania. Previously he was the personal adviser to the Minister for Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship, having been delegated to coordinate the public financing programs for SMEs. He was also involved in InvestRomania, a department within the Ministry for Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship – the Government’s leading body in promoting and facilitating foreign direct investments in Romania. Mr. Mihailescu has a vast experience in private sector and entrepreneurship, having held top management positions in large companies such as Oracle Romania and SAP Romania from 1996 to 2007, as well as working as a business entrepreneur for more than 10 years in the IT&C sector. During 2009, he was the President of the Governmental Agency in charge of the development and implementation of the National Strategy for Digital Agenda.

 

 

Event moderator & Speakers: Neil McGregor – Vice Chairman of the BRCC Board of Directors and Managing Partner of McGregor & Partners

Neil McGregor is the managing partner of McGregor & Partners SCA, the law firm in Romania and Bulgaria which is associated with the international firm Stephenson Harwood. He is a British commercial solicitor who has worked in Romania and its neighbouring countries since 1996. He is a member of the Bucharest Bar and is also a registered foreign lawyer in Bulgaria.

  Jim Turnbull – CEO – Food Development Company Ltd

Jim Turnbull has over 50 years of experience in international agribusiness and rural development. For ten years he was Divisional Director of Cargill Technical Services Ltd responsible for identifying and developing agribusiness opportunities in Africa and Eastern Europe. In 1997 he founded Belmont Management Consultants Ltd and delivered over 100 projects in 26 countries. In 2009 he founded the Food Development Company Ltd to raise impact investment for a social enterprise, the Transylvania Food Company Srl in Saschiz, Mures County, and as CEO has overseen the production of elderflower concentrate in bulk for export and artisan quantities of preserves and cordials for retail sales in Romania. In 2019 he added a micro distillery producing gin, schnapps and liqueurs.The products are all carbon neutral, the company is BRC food safety certificated and is well advanced in ESG compliance.  

 

 

 

Peter Latos – Partner, Head of Strategy and Transactions – EY Romania

Peter Latos is a seasoned M&A adviser with over 20 years’ experience from advising on more than 200 transactions globally. During the last 12 years he has lived and worked in CEE, and moved to Romania in 2021. His experience includes complex cross-border multidisciplinary acquisitions, disposal and carve-out transactions in the energy and natural resources, technology and media, agriculture and consumer goods sectors. Peter holds an MBA from ENPC School of International Management in Paris and is fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.  

 

Anca Stancu – Founder in Cybersecurity & Digital Health, Managing Director and Co-Founder – Safetech Innovations Global Services

23 years of experience in the IT&C industry, building international businesses for major companies such as HP, Vodafone, and Spirent. 
She has also demonstrated her entrepreneurial skills by founding and growing technology businesses from the ground up. Anca’s expertise spans strategic partnership development, board-level strategy execution, and mobilizing intercultural teams for large-scale projects. 
Expert in international business expansion with experience in the UK and US technology markets.
Recently partnered with a major Romanian cybersecurity company to build a global R&D focused cybersecurity services provider, with its HQ in London: Safetech Innovations Global Services LTD.
