The Habitat for Humanity Romania team is on the ground, assessing the situation and looking for the best solutions to provide assistance, ensuring that help reaches those who need it most.
Why is our help needed?
- 6,000 homes were severely damaged due to heavy flooding;
- 300 people had to leave their homes;
- 17 towns in Vaslui and Galați were affected;
- 5 most affected towns in Galați: Cuza Coda, Pechea, Slobozia Conachi, Cudalbi, Costache Negri”
- 25 schools and high schools were closed;
- 10 roads and 5 bridges were destroyed or unusable.
How can you contribute? By offering financial support for:
- Relief for shelter: voucher assistance to repair/evacuate debris (instead of providing NFIs),
- emergency accommodation for those who lost the home (type of rental),
- case work and technical assistance;
- Recovery: repairs, rehabilitation, reconstruction;
- Resilience for future extreme events: trainings, simulation, how to retrofit your home for floods, campaign for insurances;
