FARA Foundation, in collaboration with NGOs, administrative institutions, and volunteers, can provide support to children and families as follows:
- Ten beds in one transit centre, in Suceava
- One hot meal a day for 50 people
- Packages with essential products (clothing items, shoes, food)
- Translation services and information for orientation/integration
- Personal hygiene kits
- Disinfectants and Covid-19 protection kits
For the children from the Refugee Centres, FARA Foundation offers medium-term support as follows:
- Therapy and recovery services for children, including children with disabilities
- Psychological/emotional support services for children and parents
- Recreational activities and socialization together with the children from FARA Foundation’s programs in Suceava County
- Activities such as Children’s Friends run by experienced volunteers
The distribution of the products is made possible through mobile teams of FARA’s employees, volunteers, and collaborators. The therapy and assistance services are provided by specialists, employees, and collaborators of the FARA Foundation.

2. Through in-kind donations

About FARA Foundation
FARA was founded in 1991 by a British citizen, Jane Nicholson, who made her life mission to transform the lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children, young people, and families in Romania by providing them with a sense of family.
FARA has successfully provided a lifeline to over 10,000 beneficiaries in the last 30 years.
FARA has expanded its reach over the years from one home for children rescued from state institutions to community-based programmes supporting families to stay together, building a stronger future for Romania.
FARA’s services are trauma-informed and respond to the individual’s needs, providing a pathway of care that gives the beneficiary the tools needed to live a successful independent life.
In Suceava County, there are 511 beneficiaries receiving support through various programs as follows:
A Home for Life – We provide residence, specialized care, support, and social assistance services for 20 young adults with disabilities in family-type housing in two locations, Casa Sfanta Maria in Vadu Moldovei and Casa Elisabeta in Cacica.
A Family for those Without – We provide residency, psychosocial assistance, non-formal education to 11 children and adolescents lacking support and parental care in a family-type home, Casa Sfantul Nicolae, in Suceava.
Therapy and Recovery – We offer therapy and recovery services, free of charge, to 180 children and young people with disabilities from low-income and vulnerable families in a day centre in Popesti Leordeni. We also train their parents to continue the therapeutic process at home.
Tackling Poverty through Education – We provide “school after school” educational support, non-formal education, psychosocial and material assistance, a warm meal, and social inclusion activities for disadvantaged and marginalized children and their families living in Baia/Preutesti, Bogata, Basarabi and Bahna Arin. The program supports 300 children and 450 family members.
In Ilfov and Satu Mare Counties, we assist 185 children and young people through programs and services such as:
Independent Living Support – We offer integrated services, psychosocial and educational support for young people leaving the protection system and preparing for independent living. One hundred thirty-five people received assistance in two centres, one in Popesti Leordeni, Ilfov County and one in Satu Mare.
Therapy and Recovery – We provide therapeutic and recovery services, free of charge, to 50 children and young people with disabilities from low-income and vulnerable families in a day centre in Popesti Leordeni. We also train their parents to continue the therapeutic process at home.
