Education UK: We are international! Followed by a reception at the venue, by invitation only.
Over 100 universities and organisations across the UK have joined forces this Autumn to advocate for international students, staff, research and collaboration in higher education through the #WeAreInternational campaign.
British Council has teamed up with Universities UK – the voice of UK higher education for over 90 years – to support this important and timely campaign via a joint public lecture, part of the British Council’s Education UK Exhibition in Bucharest.
UK universities are keen to make sure academic research is not hindered by geographical boundaries and that students and staff from around the world are able to celebrate their own cultures and build cross-cultural friendships.
Their commitment to the UK remaining a welcoming home to global scholarship and providing a superb education to the most talented people from around the world, remains firm.
This event will welcome an outstanding panel of senior university leaders from the UK, including Professor Andrew JT George (Deputy Vice Chancellor, Brunel University London), Professor Ashraf Jawaid (Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Bedfordshire), and Professor Ian Marshall (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Coventry University). They will be joined by academic leaders from Romania whose institutions have strong programme/research partnerships with UK
universities, as well as notable Romanian alumni of UK universities.
The panel will discuss key topics on the internationalizing higher education agenda in both countries including:
• The importance and value of international university communities;
• How scholars from across the continent and the world enhance academic life, knowledge and economic growth;
• The importance of international partnerships to the research agenda;
• Universities’ commitment to ensuring they remain diverse, inclusive communities of international scholarship in the face of changing political landscapes across the globe.
British Council requests the pleasure of your company for this event and for a subsequent reception co-hosted by the British Ambassador and British Council Country Director at the Sheraton Bucharest Hotel at 18:00. An invitation to the reception is attached.
