Dear Members & Colleagues,

I wanted to take this moment to confirm my appointment as the newly elected Chairman of the BRCC as from the recent BRCC Board meeting on the 28th January. I am very grateful to the board of directors for the confidence given to me and honoured to be working with all of you in the next, exciting chapter of the BRCC.

I especially want to say a big thank you for the outgoing chairman, Neil McGregor and recognise the huge commitment made through a challenging time for all of us over the last 3 years. The Chairman, Vice-Chairs and the Board of Directors are all a 100% volunteer group, so I know you will join me in appreciating the personal and professional commitment given by Neil and the BRCC board team.

Neil will stay on the board as a Vice-Chairman. His fellow Vice-Chairs are Dan Schwartz, Daniel Kearvell, Charles Crocker, Lucian Danilescu and Mamas Koutsoyiannis.

I would also like to thank Christophe Weller and the amazing COS team who I officially represent on the BRCC board.

My Personal Pledge

For me, it is a time of transformation as the Business, Education and NGO world we work in is fast changing so it is absolutely vital that we keep pace with this acceleration and, indeed, pioneer new initiatives to help our members prosper and grow in both Romania and the UK.

So, my pledge as I begin this mandate, is to re-energise and re-calibrate the BRCC around good listening and performance for our members and to scope the current model into expanding to new regions, new targets, and new opportunities that we can all be involved in and prosper from as individuals and organisations, large and small.

This, of course, includes greater cooperation with our strategic partners including The British Embassy in Romania, the Romanian Embassy in the UK, The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) and other trade associations and influential people that can bring value to our members and the Chamber as a whole.

Our event agenda in 2022 will again, be packed full of variety and diversity with, we hope, more face-2-face networking opportunities along with the very successful hybrid and online events of 2021 created by the talented BRCC team of Madalina, Ana, Stefan, Ioana and Mara, our volunteer in the UK

We will also be introducing a BRCC Awards Gala recognising the enormous talent within the membership throughout the year including exceptional company and inspirational individual performances of our membership.

My final words are this:

Thank you all for your ongoing support. Like most things, you only get out what you put in so please let us know your ideas and thoughts and keep the collaboration and communication strong and healthy. We are now rapidly expanding membership in the UK and want to encourage more and more members in Romania too.

As a gesture as I enter this new chapter, I would like everyone to introduce a new member to the BRCC in this first quarter of 2022 and receive a 10% discount voucher on the next renewal of their regular membership package.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I wish you and your families, good health, prosperity, and happiness in 2022.

See you all very soon

Colin Lovering
