Location:Church of the Resurrection Bucharest

Saturday 23rd March, 7pm – Church Choir Easter Concert

On Saturday evening our wonderful Church Choir are giving a concert. They have been working hard to prepare an interesting and varied programme, and I know many of us are looking forward to it. Tickets are available on the door by donation (minimum suggested 50 lei) – and the money raised will support the life of the church.

Holy Week and Easter

24th March Palm Sunday, when we commemorate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, days before his arrest and trial. Our service will begin outside the church with the blessing of Palm Crosses, so please arrive promptly for 10am.

March 25-27 – During Holy Week, there will be Compline (Night Prayer) via Zoom at 8pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. This is a short, reflective service centred on the reading of a psalm and passages of Scripture. You will find the Zoom link for this here.

March 28Maundy Thursday, the liturgy is at 7pm, recalling Jesus’ last supper with his friends. This is a very dramatic service, beginning joyfully but ending in darkness as we remember Jesus’ betrayal and arrest. A special altar is constructed to serve as a Garden of Gethsemane, and following the liturgy, the church will remain open until 10pm as we watch and wait with Jesus.

March 29 – Good Friday, the church will be open between 12pm and 3pm (the hours of the Lord’s Passion) for prayer and reflection, beginning with the Stations of the Cross at 12.30pm. Children’s Church will work together to create the Easter Garden at 2.30pm, and if you have children you’d like to bring along to help, you are warmly welcome. The Liturgy of the Passion will be at 7pm to give the most people the opportunity to come.

March 30Holy Saturday, the Easter Vigil will be celebrated at 8pm. This is the highlight of the Church’s year, beginning outside in darkness until the church is flooded with light at the Easter Proclamation.

March 31Easter morning, we will celebrate as usual at 10am – and our wonderful choir will enrich our worship, full of Easter joy.
