Autism Voice, one of the largest NGOs in Romania that has been supporting the cause of children with autism for over 12 years, is launching a public utility program for families with children with autism in the country – Autism Voice Line. Through this program, which will be conducted online, via Skype, parents that have children with autistic or behavioral disorders will benefit from psychological counseling during this isolation period imposed by the presence of COVID virus – 19. “Parents with children with behavioral disorders suffer the most during this period because of the restrictions imposed by COVID – 19. We refer here at over 30,000 families nationwide that we can no longer help, for reasons already known. Self-isolation is the worst thing for a child with disorders who needs socialization, therapy with specialists and constant human contact. Therefore, we will launch this campaign for at least a month. Through this campaign we want to offer free advice to parents, and to make it easier for them to go through the isolation days at home. Anxiety has increased excessively these days and we still do not know how the situation will evolve. Children with autism need their parents to be balanced, to be calm and to consult with an ABA specialist constantly to find out what they can do for their children in the given situation. We chose to carry out this project because we are all responsible for being in the next period with those who need our help ”, said Anca Dumitrescu, President of Autism Voice.
Autism Voice, through a special line opened via Skype, will help families at risk, by offering RECOMMENDATIONS for the problems that parents face with children with autism. Some of the problems, both socially and psycho-emotional health, are caused by:
- Self-isolation imposed by authorities
- Misinformation in social media
- Isolation of children with special needs at home
- Lack of physical support of specialists in the field due to isolation at home
- Psycho-emotional anxiety created by the current social status
- Lack of specialized therapies for children, which can be done only 1 to 1 or in small groups.
All of these, as well as other specific factors, can severely affect families and children with autism or behavioral disorders. Stopping the work with a child with disorders leads to stagnation or even regress in recovering the child, thus losing work months.
Moreover, there are still thousands of families in the country who do not benefit from any specialized support for their children due to lack of resources, specialists and information.
Autism Voice has launched at the beginning of this year the project “Pass the Voice” (https://autismvoice.ro/portfolio-items/pass-the-voice/) that will help the parents with children with autism at a national level, so that they can begin a form of recovery of their children directly from home through intensive training with parents.
Due to the risks of COVID-19, this project was interupted. The alternative is this online counseling, that is intended to help families at least to benefit from psychic, moral support.

In order for this line to exist for at least a month, the association is asking individuals and companies for donations. All the money raised during this period will ensure that the counseling line is functional as long as possible, so that thousands of families with children with disorders receive specialized psychological support, at their fingertips, unobstructed.

Autism Voice, founded in 2008, is the first association specialized in the recovery of children with autism who introduced in Romania the possibility of specialized ABA training of therapists, and today it is the only institution in Romania that offers continuous training courses accredited by the BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board). ).
Autism Voice has two therapy centers where 400 children with autism spectrum disorders are helped to recover through ABA therapy. At the same time, through Autism Voice, over 1,200 parents attended the free courses, about 2,000 psychologists and specialists were trained in ABA therapy (repetition therapy) and over 2,000 teachers participated in the training programs.
