Bucharest, 23 May 2025 – Excellence, innovation, and resilience defined the 11th edition of the Superbrands Romania Programme. Titled ‘The Champions’, the Gala held at the Royal Palace celebrated two decades of the Superbrands Programme in Romania and marked the official launch of Volume XI of the Superbrands Book. Elite brands eligible for Superbrands status on the local market for 2024–2025 were recognized based on votes from the Superbrands Honorary Council, as well as market research conducted by Ipsos on a representative sample of Romanian consumers. The gala evening also honoured two outstanding private initiatives that represent Romania: the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) and Romanian Business Leaders (RBL) — for their respective contributions to Romania’s cultural image on the global stage and to the advancement of entrepreneurship.

20 Years of Excellence in Branding on the Romanian Market

The 2024 edition marks a major anniversary: two decades since the Superbrands programme established its presence in Romania, playing a key role in developing and promoting excellence in branding culture on the local market. Throughout the years, the programme has consistently recognized and celebrated brands that embody creativity, consistency, and the ability to adapt and reinvent themselves in response to market challenges.

“The Champions, this year’s theme, celebrates the brands that have excelled in 2024, as well as the resilience, adaptability, and innovative spirit that have defined the elite of Romanian branding over the past two decades. We are proud to mark 20 years of Superbrands in Romania with a gala that brings together industry leaders and brands that continue to set high standards and inspire others. In today’s economic and social context, these brands prove that excellence is a long-term commitment to business partners, consumers, and society at large. Looking ahead, we are confident that Romanian brands will continue to grow and stand out through authenticity, innovation, and performance, in line with the world’s leading brands,” said Ada Toni, the new Country Manager of Superbrands Romania.

Official Launch of Volume XI of the Superbrands Book

The Superbrands Gala also marked the official launch of Volume XI of the Superbrands Book for Romania, 2024–2025, which brings forward compelling success stories in branding and highlights the evolution of branding culture within the local economic landscape. Volume XI brings together under one cover the most powerful brands on the market, serving as a handbook of branding excellence, now emblematic in Romania’s active promotion of its market potential on the international stage.

Honorary Recognition Awarded to TIFF and RBL (Romanian Business Leaders)

During the Gala, the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) and Romanian Business Leaders (RBL) received honorary recognition for their outstanding contributions to promoting Romanian culture and arts internationally, and respectively, for advancing the spirit of entrepreneurship in Romania. TIFF and RBL have become remarkable benchmarks of excellence, innovation, and creativity, with a positive impact on Romanian society—core values also championed by the Superbrands programme.

The closing of the 11th edition of the Superbrands Romania programme was marked by strong attendance from the business community, along with opinion leaders, cultural figures, professionals from the creative industries, and other key sectors. The evening’s host was Colin Lovering, President of the British-Romanian Chamber of Commerce.

About the Superbrands Research: The list of brands eligible for Consumer Superbrand status was obtained based on the international Superbrands methodology, which consists of two important stages. In the first stage, the Superbrands Council, including 30 professionals from various industries, such as management, marketing, advertising, communication, branding, media, consultancy, ensured the qualitative selection of the list of brands compiled by Ipsos Romania, evaluating 1,804 commercial brands from 61 categories. The criteria considered in the selection process were reputation, trust, quality, and market differentiation. Following this selection, 968 qualified brands were included in the market research conducted online among consumers by Ipsos for Superbrands Romania, on a representative sample of 1,500 Romanian urban consumers. Separately, the Superbrands Council representatives voted the business brands, taking sustainability (the ESG criterion) into account.

The full list of brands voted as eligible for both Consumer and Business sections is published in Volume XI of Superbrands Romania, 2024 – 2025 edition.
