
IT company Roweb has concluded the 2022 internship, a career event with tradition, started in 2009.
Among the students who completed the three months of this paid internship program, 80% were selected to become part of the Roweb team as full-time or part-time employees.
Some details about the 2022 internship
Regarding the main tasks, the focus was on preparing young interns to face the challenges of real projects and applications.
Thus, in the case of the PHP & .Net and Quality Assurance internship (in its first edition), coordinators chose tasks with a high degree of familiarity.
The students worked with technologies and functionalities they had met before (either in the projects from the faculty or in those made during the Roweb summer practice).
The mentors and coordinators were responsible for carefully checking the code written by the interns and offering them support for correcting or completing various tasks.
“The projects from our portfolio were presented to students and they worked directly with the formed teams.
The goal was to accommodate them with our working way, with the idea of sprinting and with the responsibility of taking over the tasks. The good news is that they saw exactly how the software development process works and quickly settled in.” said Gabriel Rosu – internship coordinator and Roweb Managing Partner.
On the other hand, another working method that had good results was that of working in parallel. More precisely, the interns received tasks they carried out in parallel with other experienced software developers. Then, after completing them, a comparison was made between the two ways of working, the young people receiving recommendations or guidelines for their written code.
Moreover, the coordinators carefully chose the internship activities to highlight the strong points and the aspects that should be improved so that the interns can gain independence in solving the tasks.
“Roweb has been implementing training programs for students since 2009, when I was responsible for the first PHP internship. So for me, it’s year 13 – and so far, it is a lucky one because all the students in the program are outstanding.
Since the beginning, things have naturally evolved regarding the technologies approached and the complexity of the tasks.
The purpose of the summer practice is to select the students we consider suitable to become our colleagues (that is, to go through the internship program).
We always select those people who are suitable to our attitude and culture. We help them go through the onboarding process and want them to stay with us for as long as possible. This year, in my division, all 5 students with whom I started the internship remained.” said Stefan Nicolae, internship coordinator and Head of e-commerce @ Roweb.
Other details related to the Roweb team:
- At the moment, over 130+ professionals are part of the Roweb team. Among them, most are seniors with experience who can offer support and guidance to young people at the beginning of their careers.
- The summer practice and the internship in 2022 were carried out face to face, which allowed better cooperation between the parties involved.
- Beyond the internship this year, other essential career events took place, such as Job Shadow Day, Open Doors events, participation in job fairs, etc.
- The recruiting process continues now, with the careers page being permanently updated by Roweb’s dedicated departments.
