90% of children growing up in poor communities are at risk of developing at least one speech, learning or emotional problem; increasing the probability of dropping out of school; reducing access to the mature labour market.
One of our goals is to decrease school drop-out rates by promoting education and supporting the educational process to 240 children in extreme poverty across the 6 cities we’re located (of which 35% come from discriminated Roma communities or exposed families where there is a risk of trafficking). We are committed to providing mentoring and studying with educators in our day centres, providing hot meals daily to the children, exercise activities and art and music studies. Also providing access to supplies, clothing, and social assistance services for their families as well.
The Salvation Army is an international humanitarian organisation founded in London, England, with a history of over 150 years and a presence in over 130 countries today. The Salvation Army Romania carries out social, educational, psycho-social, and spiritual counselling projects for over 20 years, and present in Bucharest, Ploiești, Craiova, Iași, Bacău and Buzău, with day centres, mobile street teams, social case workers, educators, and medical staff.
