A Celebration of Scottish heritage, Generosity and Community Spirit for the Scots and Scots-at-heart in Romania

Are you ready to celebrate together with friends, food and everything good about Scottish culture in support of Light into Europe? Join us for our Burns Supper on 1st February 2020 from 18:30 at the InterContinental Hotel Bucharest.

Burns Supper is an institution of Scottish life: a night to celebrate the life and the enduring legacy of the great Scottish poet Robert Burns. For Light into Europe is a great privilege to shine a spotlight on the some of the most famous Scottish cultural traditions of music, poetry and dance, it brings people of different cultures and backgrounds together. It’s an inclusive, fun and warm event.

The evening is a key fundraising event to support our work with Blind and Deaf people here in Romania. All proceeds raised on the night go to the continuation and development of educational, independent living and Guide dogs for the Blind programmes of Light into Europe Charity and you will have the chance to meet some of these incredible people at the event!

After being greeted by our Scottish Piper and welcome drink, you will enjoy a 4 course Scottish inspired banquet, including the speciality haggis, plenty of whisky, wine, beer and spirits as well as the chance to witness the traditional Address to a Haggis, Immortal Memory of Robert Burns and the Toast to the Lassies! Following this, you can put your dancing shoes on and reel the night away with our band all the way from Feis Rois in Scotland including favourites like the Dashing White Sergeant and Strip the Willow. A truly Scottish celebration here in Bucharest. The tradition created by Burns Supper in Bucharest is part of the broader transmission of cultural and social values over generations. The sense of community that this creates is so relevant to our busy society.

Tickets for this exclusive event are only available in advance at €129 or 600RON per person. Confirm your tickets as soon as possible by emailing burns-supper@lightintoeurope.org or calling 0744541774/0743293331. Tables and sponsorship packages are available, why not join us with a company table or with a group of family and friends?

Finally, to prepare for the evening we will be holding 2 free Scottish Dance practices on Sunday 19th and 26th January from 7-9pm at the InterContinental Hotel. We would be delighted for you to join us, learn some of the dances and have fun together!

Our Burns Supper ethos might be better summed up by the old Scottish proverb, “The story is told eye to eye, mind to mind and heart to heart”.
