This was subsequently re-named Halewood Winecellars SA. With a history dating back to 1949, the company has recently established itself as a top wine producer in the region. This follows significant investment in technology improvement and know-how. Combined with the extensive experience and talent of the wine making team, Halewood Winecellars SA aim to capitalize upon Romania’s exceptional potential and great diversity in viticulture and vinification.

In the old Rhein Azuga Cellars, built in 1892, the company continues to produce excellent sparkling wines according to the traditional method.

Established in 2001, as a subsidiary of Halewood Romania, the company acknowledges the fact that the quality of any wine starts in the vineyards. Halewood Estates Ltd. Manages vineyards in Romania’s three main wine-growing regions: Dealu Mare in the Sub-Carpathian Hills, Sebes and Aiud in Central Transylvania and more recently in Cernavoda-Murfatlar, near to the Black Sea Coast. An ambitious plantation programme is underway, and the microclimates within these regions are highly favourable to grape growing. The results will yield highly valuable international and local grape varieties, and these will contribute a substantial proportion of the raw material required to produce wines of exceptional quality.
