Future Trends in Healthcare Industry – 2nd Edition

The 2nd edition of the “Future trends in the healthcare industry” organized on the 17th of October at Crowne Plaza Hotel by BRCC, will postulate current trends in the pharmaceutical industry in relation to environmental sustainability. The aim of the Conference is to provide a platform to the researchers and practitioners from both academia as well as industry to meet the share cutting-edge development in the field.

Discussions will focus on:

  • Healthcare reform – data privacy, regulations, and legislation.
  • Public health trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Change management & adaptive operational processes for cost efficiency.
  • The private healthcare sector – market dynamics and patient care solutions and patience experience.
  • Transformational leadership principles and patient-centric culture models.

Last years’ participation of various experts with both local and international expertise have contributed to setting up a program community focusing on current trends in the pharmaceutical industry in relation to environmental sustainability and how best to move toward carbon zero, keeping in mind environmental sustainability and delivering improved access to patient care, both in public and private system.

This year’s edition will focus primarily on patients care solutions, highlighting the emerging healthcare technologies & applications, as well as digital transformation and foresight strategies in the health industry, emphasizing various Telehealth innovative solutions– impact, adoption challenges and predictions as well as how blockchain can contribute on e-health records and supply chain management.

Keeping in mind the patience experience – UX, usability & user-centered design as well as patient accessibility to safety tools in Romania, we would like to tap also the mental and behavioral health awareness and prevention programs as well as several CSR and social programs for disadvantage communities.

Katie Rizvi – Co-Founder & Executive Director, Youth Cancer Europe

Katie is a founder and executive director of Youth Cancer Europea Cluj-Napoca based pan-European patient advocacy network, with members from 40+ European countries with a track record of shaping EU policies on cross-border healthcare, financial discrimination, fertility preservation, reproductive rights, mental health and health equity; influencing legislative changes EU-wide as well as on the local level across different healthcare systems, with a keen focus on supporting the needs of marginalised, minority and protected populations across the EU.

She is a member of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Group of Patient Experts and the Patient Advisory Committee of the European Cancer Organisation. She is a member of the Children’s Medicines Working Party of The European Forum for Good Clinical Practice. For two terms she served on the Board of Directors of PanCare, a multidisciplinary pan-European network for the study of late effects of childhood cancer therapy.

The Little People Children’s Cancer Charity she set up in Romania twenty years ago still provides daily psychosocial support services for Romanian childhood cancer patients and peer-support to young people in after-care through online & residential programmes, with a an annual reach of 1000+ pediatric oncology patients in the clinical setting.

Alexandru Rafila – Minister of Health

On 25 November 2021 Professor Alexandru Rafila has been appointed Minister of Health of Romania.

He is also the Chief of Microbiology Department of University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” and he was the Chief of the National Institute for Infectious Diseases Matei Bals” in Bucharest, Romania.

He received his medical degree in 1987 and attained a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology in 2004. He has been a senior specialist in Microbiology and Public Health since 2000.

Dr. Rafila is the elected President of the Romanian Society of Microbiology and has served in central administration as Secretary of State, General Director for Public Health and several times as Personal Adviser of the Minister of Health. He also held the position of Director at the Institute of Public Health in Bucharest. He is also the Chairman of National Certification Committee of Polio Eradication.

In addition to his standing in his own country, Professor Rafila’s expertise is recognized internationally as expert by WHO, NATO and European Commission. He was Member of Standing Committee of WHO Regional Office of Europe and of the Executive Board of WHO, and he also represented Romania in the Management Board of ECDC.

Professor Rafila has been active organizer and participant in many national and international medical conferences and events on public health and microbiology. Dr. Rafila has authored articles, manuals, book chapters and guidelines for public health and microbiology practice.

 

Prof. Marina Melescanu Imre, DMD, Phd – Faculty of Dental Medicine at UMF “Carol Davila” University, Bucharest

Started her academic career in 1999 at the Chair of Prosthodontic of the Faculty of Dental Medicine at UMF “Carol Davila” University, Bucharest, Romania. Obtained her phd degree in 2014. Since then she published more than 100 papers in the research area of expertise witch is full edentulism oral rehabilitation, dental implants and more recently, she orientated her research interests in the new materials and techniques brought up by the digital era of dental medicine. In 2020 she sustained her Habilitation Thesis, being now the coordinator of 5 phd students. Since 2020, she is Head of Department I of the Faculty of Dental Medicine at UMF “Carol Davila” University, Bucharest, Romania and since 2022 Head of Prosthodontics Department.

Dr. Laura Dracea – Gynera Fertility Center, Bucharest

Dr. Laura Dracea is an experienced practitioner, as well as Founder and Director of the Gynera Fertility Center, Bucharest, a private integrative clinic offering advanced reproductive techniques.

She graduated from the University of Medicine in 1992 and specialised in obstetrics and gynecology. After several internships in the US, France and Israel, she contributed to the establishment of the Department of Assisted Reproduction at the University Hospital “Panait Sarbu” Bucharest and coordinated it’s activity for more than 10 years. In addition to clinical and management practice, dr. Dracea has had many years of academic experience at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” Bucharest where she conducted research projects, courses and trainings in ObGyn and reproductive medicine.

She has published textbooks and scientific articles and participated in international advisory boards, as well as in social and educational projects. She also served as consultant for the Romanian Parliament for legislation projects related to assisted reproduction.

In 2007 Dr. Laura Dracea founded Gynera Fertility Center, the first clinic specialised in assisted reproduction, with a long history of success stories and pioneering in IVF in Romania. 

The expertise and the innovative approach centred on the patients’ experience contributed to exceptional success, resulting in the highest number of IVF births in the country. 

Since 2019, Gynera became a member of FutureLife group, a leading global provider of reproductive medicine and genetics services, bringing huge collaboration opportunities for treatments, education and research.

Dr Dracea is the President of the Romanian Society for Fertility and Assisted Reproduction and an active member of several international societies. Her curent interest is improving reproductive outcomes and clinical practice by introducing the most advanced technologies and solutions.

Ana-Raluca Chisu – Founder – KinetoBebe

She is a graduate of Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies in German language, of the specialization programs in Health Services Management of the National School of Public Health, Management and Improvement in the Health Field Bucharest and graduate of the MBA courses of the International Assessment Department Education of the Cambridge International School. For over 13 years, after a period in which she assisted foreign investors in European investment projects in Romania, Mrs. Chisu founded the first exclusively Pediatric Recovery Center in the private sector in Romania. She currently coordinates the network of KinetoBebe Pediatric Recovery Centers and is the Program Manager in the KinetoBebe Association. With a capacity of over 150 children in therapy, daily, the Centers coordinated by Mrs. Chisu are one of the largest providers of pediatric therapy services in Romania. For three years, she has been a UNICEF partner in support projects and development of health education policies, both for medical personnel, medical assistants, community assistants and parents. She is passionate about identifying aspects that require improvement both from the administrative side of the public sector and from the private sector, thus supporting courses for the city managers of 14 cities in Romania and offering them support in the elaboration of public policy proposals; project carried out under the auspices of projects financed by the European Commission.

Shajjad Haider Rizvi MBE – CEO of Resysten International

Resysten International is an innovative coatings company that provides sustainable solutions for the healthcare and environmental sectors. In 2023 Resysten created Clean Air by Resysten, a coating that absorbs NOx and converts it to harmless matter. Every nine sqm of coated surfaces with Clean Air cancels out the NOx emissions from an average daily car journey. Shajjad is also the British Honorary Prosperity Consul to Cluj Napoca for the British embassy in Bucharest. 

Founder of the Little People childhood cancer charity that helps every child in Romania with cancer in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Co-founder of Youth Cancer Europe (YCE) and Chairman of the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Romania. 

In 2019 Shajjad was awarded an MBE by HRH, the Prince of Wales, for his charity work in Romania.
