The British Romanian Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the 2nd edition of the BRCC AWARDS GALA, recognising the champions of 2023 in Business, NGO’s and Education. We are glad to organize this event after the success of the first edition when we celebrated Excellence in Business among BRCC members. You can find information about the previous edition here.

The awards gala dinner will take place on the 22nd of February at the Bragadiru Palace, Bucharest where we will be celebrating those BRCC members who have truly excelled in 2023.

Can all members apply?

  • The awards are open to BRCC members active in the UK and Romania, and we encourage businesses from all sectors to apply, regardless of their size or current resources.
  • New members joining in January 2024 will also be considered, pasted members won’t be considered
  • The initiative(s) put forward in the application must have taken place in Romania and/or in the UK to be considered applicable
  • Membership of BRCC is a mandatory to apply to different categories, applications are not limited to only one category if it fits company’s profile and current projects.
  • The Gala allows affiliated companies of jury members to apply for a particular category. Yet, the Jury Member is precluded from adjudicating in that specific category to maintain fairness and transparency.

 

Can I apply to several categories?

Each initiative can only be entered for one award category. If an organization wishes to apply for more than one category, they can do so up to 3 different categories, if they submit different projects.

 

What happens after you submitted your application?

  • We will notify you once the application and/or project is submitted.
  • Afterwards, the applications will be reviewed by our jury who will shortlist 3 companies per category depending on the importance and impact of the project.
  • The winners will be announced during a black-tie dinner and awards ceremony on 22nd of February.

 

Head of Jury 

Mihai Marinescu – Business Transformation Director at EY Romania

Mihai is a director on BRCC’s board since 2019, where he helps promote commercial connections between Romania and the UK. After completing his bachelor degree in Business Administration at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, his life journey took him to New York, where he spent 7 years in Management Consulting, helping large organizations better execute their strategy. After that, he moved to London where he spent 8 years working on major transformation projects in the investment banking industry, before returning to Bucharest in 2018 and joining EY Romania. Since then, Mihai is EY Romania’s Business Transformation Director, where he oversees the successful execution of strategic internal changes.

Besides EY, Mihai is an associate teacher at FABIZ / Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, teaching Digital Transformation for the Masters programme, and is also involved in a local startup activating in the craft beer industry. Other interests are football (he is an Arsenal supporter), travelling and scuba diving.

 

 

Ciprian Sandu – Sustainability & Public Affairs Manager at Provident Financial Romania

Ciprian has an experience of over 16 years, serving for governamental bodies, strategic communication consultancy and the Association of the Romanian brewing industry. In present, he is Sustainability & Public Affairs Manager at Provident Financial Romania and certified coach, member of European Mentoring and Coaching Council. His educational background includes a bachelor degree in public administration, a master degree in European integration and he is currently PhD student in international business at Bucharest University of Economics.

 

Andreea Minuta – Executive Director of the Subscriptions Division at Regina Maria – The Private Healthcare Network

Andreea is a high-impact senior executive currently serving as the Executive Director of the Subscriptions Division at Regina Maria – The Private Healthcare Network, the leader of private medical services in Romania with a portfolio of over 800,000 subscriptions.

Licensed in Finance & Banking at the Academy of Economic Studies (Bucharest) and the University of Reading (UK), Andreea has over 20 years of professional experience in healthcare and banking industries, during which time she developed her expertise in strategic market planning, business process, negotiation, team leadership, and product design & development.

Her leadership is characterized by a relentless commitment to customer satisfaction, innovation and operational excellence. In her role, she manages over 500 professionals, sales teams, operational teams and medical teams and oversees a network of occupational health clinics and partners throughout the country. Under her guidance, Regina Maria’s Subscriptions Division has witnessed unprecedented growth, with tripled subscriber numbers and a sevenfold increase in revenues since her tenure began in 2012.

Kendall Peet – Director of the International British School of Bucharest

Kendall has more than 20 years’ experience in the educational sector, including 15 years in school leadership. He is currently head of one of the top British international schools in Romania, leading his school successfully through the rigorous UK Department for Education British School Overseas Inspection and being awarded the highest outcome, with Excellent across all areas of provision. He is a High Performance Learning School Accreditor and an NPQH Facilitator for University College London, with a double degree in Marketing and Management and Economic History from Victoria University, and postgraduate qualifications from the University of Canterbury and Harvard. Personal interests include travel, triathlon, scuba diving, and spending time with his wife and three children.

 

 

Christophe Weller – CEO & Founder at Corporate Office Solutions

Christophe Weller started his career as Steelcase Country Manager Assistant in Saudi Arabia in 1992 and 1993, before joining the Steelcase dealer itself, Riyadh House Establishment/Al Jeraisy as sales representative in 1994 and 1995. Starting October 1995, until July 1997, Christophe was Sales Manager for TOI / Vitalis Moscow, also Steelcase dealer. In October 1997, Christophe founded Corporate Office Solutions in Bucharest, a company that he still runs successfully for more than 26 years. Christophe is passionate about Modern Art, winter sports and one of his more important concerns now is to “give back to the community”, from children to young entrepreneurs.

 

 

Andreia Stanciu – Head of Southern Europe Office at ACCA

Andreia is heading the Southern Europe office of the largest and fastest growing international business and accountancy association. She established the office in March 2006, in Bucharest and is now responsible for ACCA’s activities in Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Moldova, Romania, and North Macedonia. She has eight years of academic accounting training and more than 20 years’ work experience with professional accountancy bodies at national, regional and international level. She is a Project Management Professional and holds an MSc in Marketing.

 

Cristina Crețu – Partner at MPR Partners

Cristina Crețu is a Partner with MPR Partners’ London office, as well as the head of data privacy and co-head of our TMT practice group in both our Bucharest and London offices. She is a seasoned technology law and data protection expert, with 20 years of experience in the TMT sector. Before joining MPR Partners, she has been a litigation counsel with an EU national telecom regulatory authority, a regulatory expert with one of Deutsche Telekom’s subsidiaries in the EU, as well as a regulatory manager and data protection officer with one of Liberty Global’s EU subsidiaries. Cristina is part of the European Data Protection Board ”Support Pool of Experts” List, as well as a Vice Chair of the American-Romanian Chamber of Commerce’s Data Protection Task Force and co-head of the firm’s task force on the Romanian National Council for Digital Transformation. In 2022 and 2023 she has been bestowed Lexology’s Client Choice Award for her Data Protection expertise.

 

Catalina Rousseau – Majority Shareholder, President & CEO of BDR Associates Communication Group

Catalina Rousseau is the majority Shareholder and President & CEO of BDR Associates Communication Group, that she founded in November, 1995. Since 2020 she has extended operations in the Republic of Moldova developing major communication projects for private and international clients and donors like WB , USAID or EU.  In 2023 her agency signed with Hill & Knowlton becoming ever since the local partner of the global communication network, part of the world WPP Group.  In 2017 she initiated the affiliation of Romania to the ICCO global network of communications agencies, through ARRP. Along the years her agency has developed international projects in various markets, both independently or in association with other international consultancies in both PA and PR. As a reputed senior strategic communication consultant, Catalina is specialized in elaborating and developing communication strategies for private national and multinational companies, as well as for governmental institution in Romania and in the Republic of Moldova. She has extended experience in developing media strategies and media campaigns, as well as in creating communication strategies aiming at solving crisis situations and consolidating companies ‘ s reputation in the local market. Along the years she has received outstanding recognition for her professional achievements among which: Certificate of Merit from the US government for an USAID funded IEC campaign in the Republic of Moldova; elected four times in the top 100 business women of Romania by Capital magazine; nominated by the Forbes Romania magazine in top 50 most influencing personalities in communication; awarded the “Women who change Romania” trophy, by Piata financiara magazine, along with other reputed business women. Catalina was a member in International Juries for PR competition like: The European Excellence Awards, for 13 years, the US Stevie Awards/Women in Business , the Romania PR Awards competition, the Sabre Awards by The Holmes Report, the Best PR Leader-2020 WCFA Regional Awards, other international competition of the kind. She was also elected twice, as a member of the Business Review Jury awarding recognition for outstanding business performance, acting once as the president of the jury. In the past she was a Board member of the British Romanian Chamber of Commerce (BRCC) business association. On March 2023, Catalin was awarded The Custodian of the Romanian Crown Medal, by Her Majesty Margareta, in recognition of her outstanding professional merits, and for her high contribution to the development of the communication industry in Romania.

 

Anne-Marie Martin FCMI is the Director of Membership UK & International at the British Chambers of Commerce

She is managing a global network of 130 Chambers of Commerce, representing over 70,000 companies. Leading in International Affairs, Climate, and Trade strategic programmes, she plays a vital role in the organisation’s overarching strategy as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Formerly, Anne-Marie served as Chief Executive of the Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Europe and the British Romanian Chamber of Commerce, significantly impacting international development and representation strategies, and spent her early career working in industry leading commercial, sales and marketing and export operations in the Engineering sector.

Anne-Marie works with British Chambers worldwide to enhance their capabilities and forms partnerships with international institutional partners to elevate British business representation globally. She has dedicated a large part of her career to strategically positioning the Chamber Network as a key influencer in British global trade and fostering a culture of international business awareness.

Alin Botezatu is the Regional Director Europe and Americas at Teconnex
 
Regional Director for Operations in Europe and Americas at Teconnex Group, a leading engineering company that provides complex jointing solutions to many automotive, industrial, and aerospace customers. Member of the BRCC ‘s community since 2019 have been leading the introduction of UK based Teconnex in Romania back in 2018 as General Manager for Teconnex Europe and expanding it’s operations within the country making the location the European hub that is supporting mainland customers.
Today, Teconnex Group manufactures in all its main markets, with sites in the UK, Romania, Mexico, India, and China.
 
As per the company’s culture is its drive to be more sustainable. Vehicle exhaust systems are very sophisticated, and clamps are an integral component enabling our customers to meet their obligations.
The company’s mission defines this goal particularly succinctly: connecting customers to a greener world.
 
With over 17 years of professional experience in the automotive industry and activating in senior management positions for different automotive companies have successfully developed sustainable operations playing a key role in setting up brownfield or greenfield manufacturing sites.
Throughout professional career I have been involved with OEM’s (Daimler, VW Group, BMW) and Tier 1 suppliers and gained an extensive understanding of automotive environment challenges as well as finding the key ingredients required to reach operational excellence.
Being certified as a VDA 6.3 (Verband der deutschen Automobilindustrie E.V.) Process Auditor gave me the opportunity to evaluate and improve controls in different manufacturing organisation’s processes.
 
Being an empathic leader and an encourager I am passionate for developing people and convinced it is all about the people! I am advocating by personal example that we should treat others like we would like to treated with respect and empathy.
Generations of successful leaders are a testament to the results that can be achieved when we put people first.
 
 

Chris Frean is the Head of the Prosperity Team at the British Embassy in Bucharest. He took up this position in August 2020. In a Foreign Office career stretching back to 1988, he has worked for the British Government in Abidjan, Karachi, Kigali (as Deputy Head of Mission), Zagreb, Algiers, Rabat and Casablanca (as Consul General and Director of Trade and Investment). These postings were interspersed with stints in London where he has worked on the Middle East, the Near East and North Africa, and most recently as Deputy Manager of the Global Opportunities Fund Re-Uniting Europe Programme, which included extensive project management in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova.
