The BRCC together with Enterprise Europe Network and UKTI London are inviting British businesses to join a multi-sector trade mission to Bucharest, Romania to access new business-to-business opportunities and assess the market’s potential for export or investment in one of Europe’s fastest growing economies.
With a population of over 21 million, Romania is the European Union’s seventh largest consumer market and second biggest Central Eastern European (CEE) economy growing 3.5% in 2015. Big, growing and in the EU, Romania analysts estimate further market expansion in 2016, with the economy predicted to grow by 4.1% (DG ECFIN).
A key economic driver, the new EU Strategic period (2014 – 2020) is expected to inject €74 billion into one of the Union’s youngest members, approximately €21.8 billion of which will be generated by the cohesion policy.
Romania is also close to home and highly accessible with British Airways, WizzAir and EasyJet, amongst others, providing regular connections to the capital and beyond.
Marks & Spencer, Mothercare, GlaxoSmithKline, RBS, JCB, G4S, The Body Shop, Betfair and Vodafone are just some of the 4,771 UK companies already active in a country twice the size of England.
As a member of the United Nations, World Trade Organisation, OSCE, IMF and World Bank, and bordering Ukraine, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Moldova and offering access to Black sea ports, the democratic Republic represents significant catch-up potential within the European Union.
