Hope and Homes for Children is participating for the third consecutive year at the Bucharest International Marathon (October 14th-15th) with Team Hope, its team of fundraiser runners. So far, Team Hope was joined by more than 1,800 runners, employees in different companies and individuals, and 500 volunteers who have raised over € 70,000 for the vulnerable children of Romania.

As with previous events in which Team Hope participated, the funds collected by the runners are directed to the preventing the separation of children from their families programme. 39% of Romanian children live in poverty, some of them with less than five lei per day. Under these circumstances, some parents end up abandoning their children in orphanages, where they live in better conditions but are deprived of affection. Hope and Homes for Children prevents the abandonment of over 2,000 children through this programme annually.

The cause chosen for Bucharest International Marathon is that of the Mureşanu family, a family with eight children who risks getting into the child protection system because of the precarious situation they live in. More information about the family can be found at http://bit.ly/2fqXYHm. Donations for this family can be made on the Team Hope runners fundraising pages at http://bit.ly/2fqXYHm.
