Bucharest, [30] October 2018 – Members of the British Romanian Chamber of Commerce (BRCC) were able to meet the new British Ambassador, Andrew Noble, at the informal business mixer held by the Chamber at the Pullman Hotel on Thursday 25 October 2018, when it was announced that Vice-Chairman Neil McGregor (managing partner of McGregor & Partners and a director of Purcari Wineries) will become Chairman in succession to Colin Lovering on 11 November 2018.  Colin will become a Vice-Chairman of the Chamber being joined on the Board of the Chamber by Charlie Crocker on his retirement as chief executive of the organisation.

25 October marked a new chapter in the activities of the BRCC with the introduction of the new British Ambassador Andrew Noble to its membership base and the announcement of changes in the leadership of the Chamber, as well as the grant of Royal Patronage to the BRCC by the Romanian Royal House.

Chairman Colin Lovering introduced the Ambassador, who briefed members on his career as a diplomat – including in Romania between 1983 and 1986 – and his wish for the BRCC to play an important role in the future business relationship between the UK and Romania, particularly as part of the UK’s continued engagement with Romania following the end of the UK’s membership of the EU.

Colin also informed the members of the BRCC present at the meeting that the termination of his three-year mandate as Chairman coincided with the grant of Royal Patronage of the Chamber and that Her Majesty Margareta of Romania, Custodian of the Romanian Crown and HRH Prince Radu were to attend the Chamber’s Christmas Market to be held at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London on 12 December.

Colin will be succeeded as Chairman of the BRCC by one of the current Vice-Chairmen, Neil McGregor, on 11 November 2018.  Neil is a British solicitor and a member of the Bucharest Bar, being managing partner of McGregor & Partners, Bucharest & Sofia, in addition to a director of Purcari Wineries.

The other Vice-President of the BRCC, Daniel Kearvell (country manager of DHL) will continue in office and will be joined by Colin Lovering as the second Vice-Chairman of the Chamber, whilst the retiring chief executive Charlie Crocker will continue as a director of the BRCC in a part-time role.

Following the formal announcements and a speech from the Ambassador, members of the BRCC continued the evening in informal conversations with the Ambassador, Colin, Neil and other members.
