  • Consumers can make payments in EUR, USD or RON without paying a conversion fee
  • The card comes with benefits such as complimentary access to Mastercard airport lounges, free travel, health insurance abroad and other exclusive offers

Crédit Agricole Romania launches the first multi-currency Platinum Mastercard on the local market, a contactless premium card that allows consumers to access simultaneously accounts in EUR, USD or RON, by charging the relevant currency account.

The card is issued at a monthly administration fee of 5 EUR, without any conversion fee, as transactions will be debited with priority depending on the original payment currency – EUR, USD or RON, making Platinum Mastercard the ideal payment option for people who travel frequently.

“We are delighted to bring an innovation to the market by introducing Romania’s first multi-currency Platinum Mastercard. The key advantage of this card is a unique combination of lifestyle benefits and banking convenience. This is ideal for any person living an international lifestyle, most of the time living or working in different countries, or just travelling overseas. Now they use just one card, Platinum Mastercard, to pay directly in EUR, USD or RON by debiting the right currency account. ” said Luc Beiso, CEO of Crédit Agricole Romania.

“Launching a card that would make payments quicker and hassle free, irrespective of currency, meets the expectations of a growing number of dynamic Romanian consumers for whose needs we are always looking for innovative solutions. This innovation on the local market underscores, once again, Mastercard’s leadership on the premium cards segment. Our collaboration for the launch of the new Platinum Mastercard strengthens the excellent international partnership between Mastercard and Crédit Agricole.” said Cosmin Vladimirescu, General Manager for Romania at Mastercard.

The Platinum Mastercard with CHIP & PIN technology is contactless, a feature that provides clients with a facile usage, an improved speed to complete a transaction, but can also be used in a traditional way, by swiping or dipping the card into a POS.

Moreover and to better respond to the needs of an international traveller, the owner of a Platinum Mastercard from Crédit Agricole Bank has access to some attractive benefits such as complimentary entry to Mastercard airport lounges, free travel and health insurance abroad, and through Priceless Cities, to other exclusive offers around the world, and that are unique to Mastercard members.
