The British Romanian Chamber of Commerce was delighted to support the Sibiu based, Swiss WebAcademy and the Swiss Embassy in promoting the 6th annual CyberSecurity Romania conference in Sibiu between 13th – 14th September.   The conference carries the support of the United Nations as well as the county of Sibiu and the Sibiu Mayor Hall.

Executives from across the Romanian public sector units dedicated to helping protect the state and its critical infrastructure, talked about the increased levels of cyber attack landscape that Romania has been experiencing.  Unfortunately the use of Romania as a targeted test bed for cyber threat remains high and the banks have had a particularly long summer from June through August with complex advanced persistent threat attacks.

The Police and Crime units were also present to reinforce the message that business should be taking these threats seriously and that just at the start of the week a cyber attack had successfully taken place on a hospital.

BRCC members LeaderTeam provided a presentation on Cyber Risk Insurance which was well received.  BRCC members, IT Perspectives and McGregor Legal & Partners were also present, whilst our BRCC local representative for Sibiu, representing iCyber-Security Group Ltd of the UK, provided a talk on automating cyber defence with resulting savings of over 70% being achieved in the UK.

The event attracted circa 100 Romanian businesses of mainly an executive capacity, 30 international business executives and 20 students.

BRCC is committed to increasing the levels of awareness and education in good Corporate Governance, and taking a sensible approach to protecting your business, your customer data and your assets makes sense.

The next cybersecurity conference that BRCC will help promote and be involved in, will take place in Bucharest on 15th October by INCIR and Deloitte.  This will be the second edition of the Cyber Risk and Cyber Security Conference.  If you wish to attend and get details please email no later than 10.10.2018 at contact@incir.ro
