Trans-national Education Partnership Events in Bucharest, 6th November Member events
In the wake of the decision to leave the European Union, transnational education is increasingly recognised as integral to the global reputation of UK education. British Council Romania is taking into account such developments and is planning to function as a partnership broker by enabling UK participants to establish contacts with key decision makers within Romanian universities that have the interest and capacity to become trustworthy partners.
We have agreed to work in collaboration with Romanian universities for supporting their internationalisation agendas by helping them build stronger links with UK institutions. British Council has entered partnership with The University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest and The Bucharest University of Economic Studies for running two TNE Partnership Initiation events that are scheduled to take place on the 6th November 2017 the campuses of the local universities. Draft agenda for the events is enclosed below.
British Council’s aim in organising these events is to introduce UK universities International and TNE managers to senior representatives of the local universities that have the interest and capacity to become trustworthy partners and facilitate further cooperation. On the other hand the UK Institutions will have the opportunity to showcase their Doctoral or Master’s degree programmes to students enrolled on courses provided the two universities in fields of Engineering and Technology, Computer science, and Economics, Business and Administration studies.
The University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest is the largest and the oldest technical university in the country and among the most prestigious universities in Romania. Last year, nearly 25,000 students have been enrolled on courses in the field of Engineering and Technology. The University has consistently expressed interest in looking for partners on a wide spectrum of TNE provision including joint degrees, twinning programmes, collaborative research, distance education, and franchised programmes.
The Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) ranked 301-350 in the QS World University Rankings 2017 for Economics and Econometrics, is a research intensive university that offers qualifications in the fields of economics and business, public management and applied modern languages. Currently around 23,000 study at ASE on UG and PG programmes in the area of Business and Administrative Studies. Considerable effort has been recently made to strengthen the international profile of the university and to enhance its capacity to engage in long-term sustainable partnerships such as joint degrees, twinning programmes, collaborative research, distance education, and franchised programmes.
The proposed TNE Partnership Initiation Event will hopefully be attended by Deputy VCs in charge of International Relations, International Partnerships Managers, Head of Schools and/or TNE programmes leaders from HEIs with high profile in the specific subject areas that the host universities cater for. I.e. while the event held The Bucharest University of Economic Studies will mainly cover programmes in Economics, Business and Administration studies (with just secondary focus on Computer science) the event organised by The University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest will focus on Engineering and Technology and Computer science as well.
Please note that British Council will not cover any cost related with international or domestic travel, accommodation, subsistence or freight for the UK delegates to any of these events.
