Regulation (EU) 2016/679 – The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides new rights to data subjects and new obligations to controllers responsible for managing personal data. These changes have a direct and significant impact on the employer-employee relationship. Employers have the right to supervise how employees perform their assigned tasks and to make a constant assessment of the risks that may endanger the reputation of the organization. Employers also have an obligation to prevent inappropriate behaviour towards clients and fellow employees, unfair competition and illegal activities.

In the context of exercising rights and fulfilling the above obligations, employers use various measures, such as video surveillance of employees, geolocation, monitoring of employees’ electronic communications and Internet traffic, social networks, etc. These measures must be taken at all times in strict compliance with the GDPR requirements, so as not to violate the fundamental rights of employees.

During this training, we will discuss and present best practices to maintain the balance between the rights and interests of employees and employers in accordance with GDPR regulations.
