Lord Jones, Director General of the CBI from 2000 – 2006, became particularly known in the public arena for his candid, forthright attitude in his many media appearances during this period. Appointed Minister for State for UK Trade & Investment in 2007, he became a life peer taking the title, Digby, Lord Jones of Birmingham and remains an active cross-bencher in the House of Lords.
