With 4 weeks to go to the Maramures Balloon Fiesta, here’s the latest news:
- we’re going to gather 100 hot air balloons from all over Europe (we have 85 teams confirmed and entries arrive daily)
- they are gathering from all corners to commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War and celebrate Romania’s Centenary
- we are approaching the point to have at least one balloon representing every major European country
- all pilots and teams (400 people) come voluntarily, without receiving any fee
- moment of silence “in honour of all our fallen heroes” – Sunday, 7th October, 07:00 hours, Baia Mare Aerodrome (Aeroclubul Romaniei), just before the dawn flight
You’ll wait a long time to see such a symbolic gathering again. It’s certainly captured the imagination of the European ballooning world.
